Quilling paper

Sonnet 18. This sonnet was about love. For this I used the technique of quilling which I had to learn. Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes. My task was to learn this skill to create a poster for a shakspeare sonnet reading. I feel the final piece is very powerful and reflects the sonnet very well. The bursts of colour and the use of white space really give a contemporary look, which I feel meets the target audience. There was a lot of trial and error doing this technique and It nearly had me at my knees, but with determination and perseverance I came to a strong final outcome.
