Typing with spice

This brief was to promote the diverse food of Birmingham. I wanted to be experimental with the typography so I needed to think outside the box. I decided, as this was to promote the food, I would incorporate actual real food to create the type. This would be done by first creating the type then vectorising the type, then getting it laser cut onto plywood to create a stencil. Next I would source the ingredients  and background to put it all together. For this I would use different ground and whole spices. I used chilli powder and ground tumeric for their bold vivid colours and I used a slate /granite surface to place my ingredients on.
